Track
In general the global structure of the track was good. But due to lack of maintenance, certain sections have deviated from the original foundation beds and numerous points along the line have insufficient ballast and many rotten wooden sleepers.
Combined with restricted speeds over temporary rail cluster bridges, the line will only allow the train to run at speeds between 15 to 30 kph.
From 1985-1990
The period from 1985-1990 saw no great change in the overall situation of Cambodian Railway. The potential for development remained the same. The only visible improvement was an increase in the motive power of rolling stock (Donated by the French Government). Traffic operations operated on both lines, for transport exchange with neighboring countries in the ASEAN region.
